I've Been There...
... decades with a chronic disease, feeling much sicker than I ever let on to anyone but family, all the while taking care of others to a greater extent than myself, including young children. Plus the burden my health and mindset put on my relationships.
... trying "everything" to "fix" myself, my life, my health. Wondering why my actions (such as certain medical approaches, supplements or diets) led to healing for others but not me.
... eventually wondering if I was the only person who could possibly be so stuck, yet ineffectively using inner and outer resources available to me– if at all. And all the while having a growing sense of panic that time was marching on and nothing was getting better.
It doesn't have to take years to change your Health and your Life!
It took me years to sort out how various areas of my life affect each other and to learn to approach my own healing from multiple angles including mindset. The upside of my journey is that I’ve learned a LOT about what it takes to transform, as well as how to truly convey an understanding of this to others.
I truly empathize with my clients about the impact of poor health and chronic pain, and how the resulting distress, uncertainty and fear can cause us to doubt ourselves.
My mission is help my clients to trust themselves, and proceed with clarity, confidence and resilience to take charge of their own health. I want them to rapidly experience freedom from distress and move toward wellness.
I am a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach and Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (see FAQs) with a background in Biology (MS), Psychology (BA) and Design (BFA).
My work over the years has influenced how I view health on individual, societal and global levels, how I view human behavior, and how I collaborate with others to examine problems and design solutions. I take a well-rounded approach to coaching that draws from evidenced-based models of behavior change, and I adapt to my clients’ style, values and needs.
I'm interested in the study of habits, neuroplasticity, human motivation, positive psychology (which isn't just positive thinking, it's the study of what helps people thrive), parent-offspring conflict in humans and animals, and evolution as it pertains to human and animal behavior and human physiology. I have trained in using Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction, and have regularly practiced these techniques for years.
My joy in life comes from my family, friends, pets, being a parent (they are now young adults), nature, the arts, AND collaborating with others to find solutions in any capacity, work or otherwise.
